St. Olaf's Cathedral is an ancient, solemn church in Helsingør's old town. As the city's cathedral, this plain Gothic church is a key historical and spiritual landmark of the strait-side old city, full of heritage. Named after Norway's king and saint Olaf, it is the cathedral of the Helsingør diocese. Founded in the Middle Ages, it is a plain, solemn Gothic brick church (Denmark is known for red-brick Gothic), weathered over centuries, witnessing Helsingør's history as a prosperous trading port and its faith. Inside, the lofty, solemn space, though simplified after the Reformation, still preserves precious historical art: a splendid altarpiece, fine woodcarving, an old baptismal font, an organ, and memorials and tombstones tied to Helsingør's history (merchants, sailors), reflecting the port city's diverse past. Its old tower is a landmark on Helsingør's skyline. Together with Kronborg Castle and other old churches (e.g., the Carmelite monastery), it forms Helsingør's deep historical and religious fabric.
