Saint-Pierre Travel Guide

Parc Exotica, located in Pierrefonds in Saint-Pierre, is a tropical botanical garden and leisure park covering about 5 hectares. It brings together more than 300 plant species (including native endemics and exotic flora), cacti and orchids, and also features small bridges, animal sculptures, a model farm, a children's play area and a swimming pool with water slides.

These refer to the early 'engagé' (indentured labourer) longères, the rows of workers' dwellings, in the La Cafrine district of the Grands Bois area of Saint-Pierre. These terraced labourer homes stand as a historical witness to the housing forms of the mass contract-labour immigration period on Reunion Island.

The Temple Guan Di in Saint-Pierre is the largest Chinese temple in the Indian Ocean, honouring the deity Guan Di, a military man who was deified. Its stately pagoda stands on the heights of Saint-Pierre.

The Great Mosque (Attâyab-ul-Massâdid) in Saint-Pierre, known as 'the most beautiful mosque', was built between 1972 and 1975 by the architect Vladimir Fritzel. It has the island's largest prayer hall (about 625 m²) and a minaret over 40 metres tall.
