Rebuilt in a modern style after the 1960 earthquake, it offers some nine kilometres of fine sandy beach and a mild climate all year round. The Oufella kasbah ruins on the hill, the only relic of the old town, command views over the city and bay, and open the way to Berber culture and the Anti-Atlas.
