Lac Rose
Lac Rose (Lake Retba), about 35 km northeast of Dakar, is a highly saline salt lake whose water takes on a pink hue under certain lighting because of its high salt concentration and micro-organisms. It once served as the finish line of the Paris–Dakar Rally; visitors can take 4x4 mudflat tours or watch salt workers harvesting salt.
