Tierra del Fuego National Park, outside Ushuaia, is the world's southernmost national park with forests, lakes and channels.

Ushuaia, capital of Argentina's Tierra del Fuego province, sits on the shore of the Beagle Channel with snow-capped mountains behind it — the southernmost city on the planet and the main jumping-off point for cruises to Antarctica. The old town climbs uphill from the port along San Martín street, lined with timber houses, wool shops and king-crab restaurants. Try the local centolla (king crab) while you're here, or ride the End of the World Train through Tierra del Fuego National Park. In winter, from June to September, the nearby Cerro Castor ski resort comes alive.

Located in Ushuaia, the Museum of the End of the World exhibits the natural history and indigenous cultures of Tierra del Fuego, with nautical relics, specimens and archaeological finds.

Martillo Island, also known as Isla Martillo, sits in the Beagle Channel east of Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city. Between October and March thousands of Magellanic and gentoo penguins nest on its shores. Visitors reach the island by boat, usually via historic Estancia Harberton, and are led ashore in small guided groups to walk among the nesting colonies.

Martial Glacier rises directly behind Ushuaia, the closest glacier hike to the city; its mountain trails overlook the Beagle Channel and town, a classic Tierra del Fuego day trek.

Housed in the former prison, the Ushuaia Maritime Museum tells the story of southern shipping with ship models and Tierra del Fuego marine life, blending history and ocean heritage.
