Casa de la Libertad
Casa de la Libertad is Bolivia's most storied building, set on Plaza 25 de Mayo in Sucre. Here, on August 6, 1825, the Republic of Bolivia's Declaration of Independence was signed, ending centuries of Spanish rule. Today the museum preserves that founding document alongside portraits, early flags and relics of Simón Bolívar and Marshal Antonio José de Sucre. The neoclassical halls, frescoed courtyards and period furnishings make it an essential stop for understanding how Bolivia came into being.
