Binnenrotte Market Square, in central Rotterdam's Blaak district beside the Markthal and Cube Houses, is the friendliest corner of this modern city. On Tuesdays and Saturdays it hosts the largest open-air market in the Netherlands: more than 400 stalls of produce, cheese, flowers, fish, baked goods and clothing, with vendors' calls mixing with the smell of fresh herring sandwiches. On weekdays the square returns to daily life — kids skate the open space and a Sunday flea market sometimes appears, while the library and Markthal keep the crowd flowing.
