The hilltop Citadel retains complete walls, nine guild towers, cobblestone lanes and tall-roofed colorful old houses in ochre, pink and blue. The landmark is the Clock Tower with its mechanical clock and wooden figures (climb it for a panorama of the red-roofed hill town). It is also the birthplace of Vlad Tepes (the Impaler), the model for Dracula, whose birth house still stands. You can combine visits to Sibiu and Brasov.
