Baracoa, at Cuba's northeastern tip in Guantanamo, founded in 1511, was the first Spanish settlement and earliest capital, hence 'La Primada'. Isolated by mountains until the 1960s, it keeps Taino traditions and is famous for chocolate, coconut sugar and coconut dishes. The flat-topped Yunque towers over town, near the UNESCO Humboldt National Park.
