📍 Destination Overview
Preah Vihear is a Khmer temple spectacularly perched on the edge of the escarpment in northern Cambodia's Preah Vihear province, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Built over the 11th-12th centuries at roughly 525m altitude, its north-facing sanctuary climbs the cliff in a chain of stone stairways and courtyards that unite architecture with the landscape. Remote and quiet compared with Angkor, it rewards visitors with frontier wilderness and commanding highland views.
