Chiang Rai Travel Guide

Thailand's northernmost border city, where the fantastical White and Blue Temples meet the Golden Triangle, a northern secret.

📍 Destination Overview

Chiang Rai is Thailand's northernmost provincial city, set in the Golden Triangle where it borders Myanmar and Laos. It is famed for three artistic temples: the snow-white Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), the deep-blue and ornate Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue Temple), and the Black House (Baan Dam) full of dark aesthetics. The Golden Triangle on the Mekong, terraced tea plantations and hill-tribe villages form an exotic flavor. Quieter than Chiang Mai, it is a hidden choice for exploring the northern mountains and artistic wonders, often visited together with Chiang Mai.
