The Three Gorges Dam spans the Yangtze at Sandouping, Yiling, Yichang, Hubei — the world's largest hydropower complex, filled in stages from 2003 and completed in 2012. About 2,309 m long and 185 m high, it integrates flood control, power generation and navigation, with among the highest annual outputs worldwide, reshaping the middle Yangtze's flood system. Visitors climb Tanziling for the panorama, walk the 185 Platform level with the crest, and visit the Interception Memorial Park; overlooks frame the 'high gorges, calm lake' vista.
