No.1 West Virginia
Green Bank Telescope
The Green Bank Telescope, located in Green Bank, West Virginia, is the world's largest fully steerable radio telescope with a 100-meter aperture, the core facility of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO). The Green Bank Telescope began operation in 2000, replacing the old Green Bank telescope that collapsed in 1998, with leading global precision and sensitivity, observing numerous astrophysical topics from pulsars and galactic structure to the search for extraterrestrial life. Green Bank is located in the United States National Radio Quiet Zone, where radio signal emissions such as mobile phones and Wi-Fi are prohibited to ensure the telescope operates without interference. The facility also houses an astronomy education center, popularizing radio astronomy knowledge to the public, making it an excellent destination for astronomy enthusiasts and science education.

Blackwater Falls State Park
Blackwater Falls State Park is located deep in the Allegheny Mountains of Tucker County, West Virginia, and is one of the state's most revered natural parks. The park is named after the spectacular Blackwater Falls, where water cascades 62 feet down a sandstone cliff, creating white mist against the canyon walls before plunging into the deep Blackwater River canyon. Observation platforms around the falls offer multiple spectacular viewing angles, with the autumn foliage panorama from Lindy Point being the most breathtaking. The park covers over 10,000 acres at an elevation of approximately 2,900 feet, representing the typical landscape of the Allegheny Plateau. The park features over 20 miles of hiking trails through old-growth red spruce forests, northern hardwood forests, and high-elevation bog wetlands, with the classic hike to Lindy Point being the most popular. The park has distinct four seasons, offering West Virginia's best winter snow sports with cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails, while autumn brings famous golden and red foliage making it one of the East Coast's premier fall foliage destinations.

No.3 West Virginia
Montgomery
Montgomery is a small city in Fayette County, West Virginia, nestled in a valley of the Kanawha River tributaries on the Allegheny Plateau. Surrounded by layered mountains and lush forests, it is a typical Appalachian mountain town. Founded in the mid nineteenth century, Montgomery has a rich history as an important stop along the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, and the prosperity of coal transport left the town with abundant railroad heritage. Today the town retains Victorian era architecture and a nostalgic train station, preserving the glory of the West Virginia coal era. The surrounding natural scenery is stunning, with the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve nearby, making it an ideal base for hiking, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting. Visitors can escape urban noise and immerse themselves in the authentic charm and magnificent nature of the Appalachian highlands.
