A tiny rocky islet linked by a narrow causeway, it is thick with red-roofed stone houses against blue water, pink-sand beaches and green hills. Sveti Stefan is Montenegro's most photogenic icon and a classic postcard image — a rocky islet of dense red-roofed stone houses linked to land by a narrow stone causeway, ringed by blue sea and pink sand. The beach season June–September is best. The islet is now an exclusive luxury island resort, usually open only to staying guests, but the classic panorama from both sides of the causeway, the coastal road and hilltop viewpoints is already breathtaking (the hilltop viewpoint is most photogenic). About 10 minutes from Budva, often a day trip.
