Matobo Travel Guide

Matobo National Park (Matobo Hills) lies near Bulawayo in southwestern Zimbabwe — famed for its unique granite boulder landscapes, ancient rock art and deep San cultural significance, and as a place to see white rhinos; a cultural landscape UNESCO site; visit year-round, dry season May–Oct better. Its striking granite formations — layered domes, smooth boulders and miraculous balancing rocks — are majestic, especially at sunset. The hills were a sacred place for the San and Ndebele, with rock art in caves (respect and follow rules when visiting). The park protects white (and black) rhinos, trackable on foot with a guide (obey rules, keep distance); leopards, antelopes and rich birdlife (esp. raptors) also live here. Cecil Rhodes' grave (World's View) sits atop a boulder. USD widely used, mainly cash. Type G plugs need an adapter.
