📍 Destination Overview
Kakum is a well-preserved tropical rainforest national park in Ghana's Central Region, covering about 375 square kilometres and established in 1992 as the country's most-visited protected area. Its famous claim to fame is the roughly 330-metre canopy walkway, a system of seven suspension bridges strung between tree crowns 30 to 40 metres above the forest floor - the only true canopy walkway in West Africa. Early-morning mist wraps the treetops and birdsong echoes through the canopy, making the passage a one-of-a-kind experience. It is typically combined with the nearby Cape Coast heritage attractions.
