Qaqortoq Travel Guide

Greenland's southernmost town, where colorful houses and artists' stone sculptures dot the hillside - an open-air gallery.

📍 Destination Overview

Qaqortoq, chief town of Greenland's southernmost Kujalleq municipality with about 3,000 people, is famed for brightly painted wooden houses glowing against rock and snow. Artists carved stone sculptures across the hillside in an open-air gallery, and a 14th-century Norse church ruin survives nearby. As the gateway to southern Greenland it offers fjord trips and autumn-winter auroras.
