独立广场
Introduction
Plaza Independencia is the largest plaza in central Mendoza and the heart of the city. After the 1861 earthquake destroyed the old town, Mendoza was rebuilt with deliberately wide plazas and tree-lined avenues that also served as refuge space during quakes, and Plaza Independencia is the largest of them. Shaded by greenery and dotted with fountains, the plaza often features musical water-and-light shows at night, surrounded by theaters, museums and craft markets, with four diagonal streets leading to four other smaller plazas—an agreeable spot to feel Mendoza's relaxed city life and stroll in the shade.
