Introduction

The Phoenix Art Museum is the largest art museum in the American Southwest, with a collection of more than 20,000 works spanning global civilizations. Five curatorial strengths define the galleries: American Western and Native American art, Asian art, modern and contemporary art, Latin American art, and fashion design. The Native American pottery, basketry, and jewelry collection is among the most complete in the United States, vividly presenting millennia of Southwestern indigenous culture. Asian galleries feature outstanding Chinese Song and Yuan ceramics, Japanese ukiyo-e, and Indian sculpture.
