Introduction
Crown Fountain, located in Chicago's Millennium Park, was created by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa in 2004 and stands as one of the city's most interactive and iconic public art installations. Two 15-meter-tall glass-brick towers face each other across a shallow reflecting pool, their surfaces formed by LED screens that alternate video portraits of more than 1,000 Chicago residents. The faces pucker their lips and spout water like a fountain, cascading into the pool to the delight of laughing children. After dark, the LED faces glow against the night, mingling with the lights of surrounding skyscrapers. Crown Fountain breaks the solemnity of traditional fountains, blending art, technology, civic participation, and childlike joy, becoming Chicago's liveliest summer living room and a must-visit photo spot in Millennium Park alongside Anish Kapoor's "Cloud Gate" (The Bean).
