Introduction

42nd Street is Manhattan's most legendary east-west thoroughfare, crossing the midtown core from the East River to the Hudson and linking New York's densest cluster of landmarks. At its eastern end, Grand Central Terminal, opened in 1913, is a Beaux-Arts railway palace whose concourse and Whispering Gallery are must-see classics.
