Introduction
Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of New York's finest waterfront transformation projects, stretching 1.3 miles along Brooklyn's east side from Manhattan Bridge to Atlantic Avenue, converting abandoned piers into an 85-acre multi-functional waterfront park. Designed by landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh, it integrates historic relics, playgrounds, sports fields, ecological wetlands and ornamental gardens. Its most famous landmark is Jane's Carousel, a 1922 carousel restored by the late artist Jane Walentas, housed in a transparent Jean Nouvel glass pavilion, slowly rotating by the East River. Multiple park locations offer classic compositions of Brooklyn Bridge with Manhattan skyline, especially the cobblestone intersection of Washington and Water Streets in DUMBO, now one of NYC's most Instagram-famous photo spots.
