Introduction
Buena Vista Park is one of San Francisco's oldest city parks, established in 1867 and covering about 23 hectares. Its summit rises roughly 146 meters, making it one of the highest hilltop parks in the city. The park is best known for its dense stand of old eucalyptus trees whose canopy forms a natural green dome, with trails carpeted in fragrant fallen leaves, offering a rare urban forest bathing spot. From the top, visitors enjoy a 360-degree panorama of downtown San Francisco, Marin Headlands, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific horizon, making it a favorite viewpoint among locals. A playground, tennis courts and picnic areas are also on site; because of its elevation, the park is often wrapped in fog, exuding classic San Francisco romance.
