Coca-Cola Bottling Plant
Introduction
This Coca-Cola bottling plant at 1334 South Central Avenue in Los Angeles is a 1939 Streamline Moderne building by architect Robert V. Derrah (also of Sunset Boulevard's Crossroads of the World). Its facade is deliberately styled like an ocean liner, with rounded hull, porthole windows, a raised walkway along the front and a roof tower resembling a ship's bridge. It was designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 138 on Feb 5, 1975, and recorded by the Historic American Buildings Survey. It now serves commercial uses, usually viewable from the outside.
