Introduction

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab) is a US Department of Energy national laboratory dedicated to particle physics and accelerator research, about 55 kilometres west of Chicago in Batavia, Illinois, on a 6,800-acre (27.5 km2) site named after Enrico Fermi. It was home to the Tevatron, the proton-antiproton collider that ran 1983-2011 as the world's highest-energy machine; today it anchors the DUNE long-baseline neutrino experiment and the PIP-II upgrade, and the Muon g-2 experiment here produced results that challenge the Standard Model.
