Introduction

A historic film-location ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains near Agoura Hills, west of Los Angeles, which shot countless Westerns and TV shows and was acquired by the U.S. National Park Service in 1980. Long famed for its Western Town movie set, built in the 1930s and rebuilt in the 1980s-90s, a setting for Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman's depot and Westworld's chapel, most of it was destroyed by the 2018 Woolsey Fire. The ranch now remains a daytime hiking and photo destination within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
