Introduction
Huangshizhai (Yellow Stone Village), in Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie, Hunan, is the park's celebrated viewpoint and peak of the sandstone forest — locals say 'if you skip Huangshizhai, your Zhangjiajie trip is in vain.' At about 1,080 m, its cliffs ring a forest of quartz-sandstone pillars rising from the mist, a superb vantage for the park's 'divine peaks.' Ride the Huangshizhai cable car up, or hike trails past the Six Wonders Pavilion, Five-Finger Peak and Front Garden, where odd rocks, old pines and cloud seas meet — a must for hikers and photographers, and the best taste of Wulingyuan's UNESCO natural wonder.
