Introduction
Hijiyama Park occupies the Hijiyama hill just south of central Hiroshima and serves as a green lung for local residents. Dense woodland covers the hill, where cultural venues such as the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art, a manga library and the central library are scattered. An elevated walkway known as the Hijiyama Skywalk runs across the site. The park is planted with many cherry trees and is one of Hiroshima's best-known spots for spring blossom viewing. From the hill you can look out toward the city and the Seto Inland Sea, making a walk here both a nature break and a taste of the city's artistic side.
