Introduction

The Pola Museum of Art opened in 2002 in the forests of Sengokuhara, Hakone, built around the impressionist and modern art collection of the businessman Tsuneshi Suzuki — Monet, Renoir, Picasso and Foujita among them. The building is conceived as symbiosis with nature: layered glass and stone galleries draw the Hakone mountains indoors, while a forest walking path runs through the grounds with views over Lake Ashi. In 2026, its 25th anniversary year, the main exhibition runs until April 2027.
