Introduction
Jozankei Shrine stands on a hill at the east end of the Jozankei hot-spring town, Minami, Sapporo. Founded in 1905 by seven local pioneers, with the present Shinmei-style hall rebuilt in 1918, it enshrines five guardian deities of the springs; since 1950 the monk Misen Jozan, discoverer of the onsen, has been worshipped with them.
