The Museum of Tin Toys in Yokohama's Yamate is a private museum opened in 1986 by famed collector Teruhisa Kitahara, with about 3,000 tin toys from 1890-1960 — wind-up dolls, mini cars and robots. The white-walled, green-roofed cottage is a Yamate landmark; snug yet nostalgic, it is said to have inspired Pixar's 'Toy Story'.
