Sky mirror

Introduction

Sky Mirror is a shallow sandbank off the coast of Kuala Selangor, in the Malaysian state of Selangor, that emerges from the sea only briefly at low tide. Its mirror-like surface reflects sky and clouds so completely that visitors appear to walk upon the heavens, giving the site its name. It surfaces for only a few hours around the spring tides of the 1st and 15th of each lunar month, reached by speedboat from the Pasir Penambang jetty. Stepping onto the bank, you find soft white sand and shallow water teeming with fiddler crabs, mudskippers, starfish and tiny shells, while cargo ships rest on the horizon. The magic is in low-angle photography, where subjects merge with their reflection to seem to float on water. Rich in wildlife, it is also a favourite for birdwatching and family nature outings, earning its reputation as 'Malaysia's Sky Mirror.'
