Introduction
Bohemian Switzerland National Park (České Švýcarsko) lies in north-west Czech Republic along the Elbe sandstone mountains by the German border — a rare Central European landscape of chalk sandstone gorges and forests. Its soul is Pravčická brána, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe, about 16 m high and over 26 m across, rising above green woodland and featured in several films. The park also offers boardwalks through the Edmund (Saxon) Gorge along a stream and riverside castle ruins. Linked with Germany's Saxon Switzerland park, it is a sanctuary for hiking, climbing and gorge exploration, and familiar from the film Life of Pi.
