Introduction
The Anne Frank House is where, during World War II, the Jewish teenager Anne Frank and her family hid to escape Nazi persecution. Behind the rear of this canal-side house, Anne's family and several other Jews lived in concealment for over two years; here Anne wrote the world-famous diary that records fear, hope and a longing for peace, until the family was discovered and sent to concentration camps. Now a museum, the cramped secret annex and that diary silently tell of the suffering of the Holocaust. A visit is a somber and profound lesson in history, reminding the world to remember the past, cherish peace, and oppose all persecution and hatred.
