Bahnhofstrasse is Zurich's commercial artery and one of the world's most famous, expensive shopping streets. This about 1.4 km tree-lined avenue runs from Zurich main station to Lake Zurich, lined with Swiss watch brands (Rolex, Patek Philippe), luxury flagships, department stores and Swiss bank headquarters—elegant window displays. Cars are mostly banned, only trams pass—pleasant strolling. There are famous Sprüngli chocolate shops and century-old stores. Even without shopping, admiring windows and feeling Zurich's wealth and elegance, then walking to the lake, is a pleasant city stroll. In the Christmas season, the street's luminous lights are a Zurich winter highlight.
