Manukau Heads Lighthouse stands on the cliffs at the entrance to Manukau Harbour, south of Auckland, first lit in 1874 and one of New Zealand's few cast-iron lights. Maintained by volunteers, it opens for tower climbs with views over the Tasman Sea and harbour swells; the lookout is superb for sunsets and seabirds.
