Introduction
The Guan Di temple, on the Terre-Sainte heights of Saint-Pierre, was built around the 1920s by Hakka Chinese migrants originally from the Meixian area of Guangdong. It is the largest Chinese temple in the Indian Ocean and is dedicated chiefly to Guan Di (god of war, letters and commerce), with additional altars to the god of wealth and Guan Ping.
