East London Aquarium

Introduction

East London Aquarium is one of South Africa oldest aquariums, built in 1931 and located on the East London marine drive. The aquarium displays the rich marine life of the Indian Ocean, including sharks, sea turtles, tropical fish and corals. It is famous for its unique collection of Indian Ocean fish, particularly the rare potato bass and various endemic species. The aquarium also has a seal show area and touch pool, allowing visitors, especially children, to get close to marine life. As an educational institution, the aquarium actively conducts marine conservation education activities, making it an ideal place for families to learn about the Indian Ocean ecosystem.
