KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden

Introduction

KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden is one of South Africa nine national botanical gardens, covering about 104 hectares in the hilly outskirts of Pietermaritzburg. The garden displays the rich native plants of KwaZulu-Natal province, particularly famous for its diverse herb and aromatic plant collections. The garden has multiple themed areas, including a native arboretum, aromatic garden, medicinal plant area and wetland ecological zone. The most famous features are the century-old tree avenue and exquisite English garden landscape, blending South African native plants with English garden design. It is also home to rich birdlife, making it an ideal place for leisure, education and nature photography.
