Mount Meru

Introduction

Mount Meru is Tanzanias second highest peak at 4,562 meters, located within Arusha National Park, and is the most popular acclimatization climb before attempting Kilimanjaro. This dormant volcano has a graceful conical shape, with climbing routes traversing multiple ecological zones from dense tropical rainforest at the base to barren rocky terrain at high altitude, offering distinct and varied landscapes. The greatest highlight of climbing Mount Meru is the magnificent panoramic view of Kilimanjaro from the summit and along the route, with the two peaks facing each other across the savanna.
