Introduction
Lake Togo is one of the largest lakes in West Africa, located west of Lome, the capital of Togo, and serves as the most important tourist destination in the country. This lagoon is separated from the ocean only by a narrow sandbar, with warm and calm waters that make it an ideal venue for water sports. Traditional fishing villages and resort hotels dot the lakeshore, where visitors can enjoy water skiing, sailing, kayaking, and other abundant water activities. The beaches on the sandbar face the Atlantic Ocean, offering excellent surfing and sunbathing opportunities. The lake area is also a perfect place to observe traditional fishing methods of local fishermen, with boats heading out to sea in the early morning and returning with their catch at dusk, filled with rich local life and West African charm.
