Introduction

Victoria Falls is one of the world's largest and Africa's most spectacular waterfalls. On the Zambia-Zimbabwe border, the Zambezi River plunges from about 1,700 m wide over a ~108 m cliff — spray visible for miles, called "Mosi-oa-Tunya" (The Smoke That Thunders), a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At about 1,708 m wide and 108 m high — the world's largest single curtain of water. From Zimbabwe's side, walk along the edge for close-up views of the thundering spray. Best viewing: Feb-May (end of rainy season) for maximum spray; Aug-Dec (dry season) for clearer cliff views.
