Introduction

Great Basin National Park is one of America's most remote, least-visited parks. In eastern Nevada, it features Lehman Caves (exquisite limestone caverns), ancient bristlecone pines (among Earth's oldest trees) and spectacular dark-sky stargazing as an International Dark Sky Park. Lehman Caves features stalactites, stalagmites and rare "cave popcorn" and "shield" formations. Bristlecone pines can live over 4,000 years. Wheeler Peak (3,982 m) is reachable by car or hike. Certified International Dark Sky Park — the Milky Way is brilliantly visible. Free admission. Visiting for caves, ancient trees and stargazing in the Nevada desert is a unique Nevada experience.
