Introduction

Everglades National Park is America's largest subtropical wilderness preserve and one of the world's most important wetland ecosystems. In southern Florida, it features the unique "River of Grass" wetland, rich alligators, birds and endangered Florida panthers — a unique natural treasure (UNESCO World Heritage). About 6,105 km² — America's third-largest national park. The core is a vast shallow marsh of sawgrass with slow-moving water flowing south to Florida Bay. Rich wildlife — alligators, crocodiles, bald eagles, roseate spoonbills and endangered Florida panthers. Popular activities include airboat tours, walking trails to see alligators and bird watching. Visiting for alligators and birds in subtropical wetlands is a unique Miami nature experience.
