Chefchaouen is a blue mountain town in the Rif, cooler than most of Morocco; the best seasons are April–June and September–October. Early morning and dusk have fewer tourists and soft light, ideal for photos. The Spanish Mosque outside town is the best viewpoint over the whole blue city. Most travelers arrive by bus from Tangier or Fes. The mountain town's alleys are steep, so wear comfortable shoes.
