📍 Destination Overview
Saint-Véran, in a high valley of the Queyras Alps at 2,042 meters, is the highest permanently inhabited village in France. Stone farmhouses with slate roofs and old mills shape its skyline. Thanks to high altitude and minimal light pollution it is a haven for astronomy, with a public observatory and dark-sky reserve status. In winter it is a ski resort, in summer a hiking base.
