📷 Top Attractions

Sognefjord
Sognefjord is the largest and deepest fjord in Norway, about 205 km long with depths over 1,300 m, often called the "King of the Fjords." Snow-capped mountains, waterfalls and red-roofed villages line its shores; a sightseeing cruise or the Flåm Railway reveals some of the most spectacular Nordic scenery. Its branch, the Nærøyfjord, is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its sublime beauty. Summer brings hiking and kayaking; winter is hushed and picture-perfect. Base yourself in Flåm or Gudvangen for a half- to full-day cruise paired with the mountain railway.

Flåm Line
The Flåm Railway (Flåmsbana) is one of the world's steepest scenic railways, dropping 900m over 20km through waterfalls and valleys from Myrdal to the fjord village of Flåm.

Flåm sits deep at the end of an arm of the Sognefjord and is a classic hub for fjord sightseeing; the fjord season from May to September is best (long days, full waterfalls). Its signature is the Flåm Railway—hailed as one of the world's most beautiful railways (climbing nearly 900 m, with a stop at the Kjosfossen waterfall)—and the cruise into the World Heritage Nærøyfjord (as narrow as about 250 m, with thousand-metre cliffs). In peak season, train and boat tickets should be booked in advance (often as part of the Norway in a Nutshell combo). It lies between Bergen and Oslo.
