Portugal dos Pequenitos is a miniature park on the far bank of the Mondego river in Coimbra, opened around 1940. Portugal's famous monuments and characteristic houses from across the Portuguese-speaking world are rebuilt at children's scale. Kids can wander between a miniature Belem Tower, little Lisbon streets and houses from Africa, Brazil and Asia, touring the Lusophone world in an afternoon, while adults get a compact catalogue of Portuguese architecture, photogenic at every turn. The Bussaco Palace Hotel stands deep in the Buçaco National Forest, built in the early twentieth century as a royal hunting lodge for the Portuguese crown.
