Kiruna Church was built in 1912 and is a symbol of Swedish Lapland, designed by Gustaf Wickman in the National Romantic style. Modeled on alpine valley churches, its wooden hall is celebrated for fine acoustics and warm light, and has repeatedly been voted Sweden's most beloved church building. Because iron mining causes ground subsidence, the whole church is being moved together with the town.

Jukkasjarvi Church, situated in the Sami village of Jukkasjarvi along the Torne River Valley in Swedish Lapland, was constructed between 1608 and 1609 and ranks among the oldest wooden churches in Sweden, as well as being the most significant religious and historical structure in the Sami cultural region. The church was built using traditional Nordic timber construction techniques, featuring distinctive red-painted wooden exterior walls and a turf-covered roof that blends harmoniously with the surrounding Arctic landscape. The interior preserves remarkable 17th-century wall paintings, an ornately painted altarpiece, and handcrafted Sami decorative elements that reflect the cultural synthesis between Lutheran Christianity and indigenous Sami traditions. A small museum within the church complex displays artifacts related to Sami reindeer-herding livelihoods, the evolution of religious practices in the Arctic, and the colonial history of Sweden's northern territories. The church remains an active place of worship today, hosting weddings, baptisms, and seasonal festivals for the local Sami community, while also welcoming visitors who come to experience this unique intersection of Nordic ecclesiastical architecture and indigenous Arctic cultural heritage.

Sarek National Park, established in 1909, is one of Europe's oldest national parks and the largest in Sweden, encompassing approximately 1,970 square kilometers of pristine Arctic wilderness in the heart of Swedish Lapland. The park contains around 100 peaks exceeding 1,800 meters in elevation, 26 glaciers, and deep valleys carved by ancient ice, with the Rapa Valley widely regarded as one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in Europe. Remarkably, Sarek offers no marked trails, no accommodation facilities, and no mobile phone coverage, making it one of the last true wilderness areas remaining in Europe. Hikers must be fully self-sufficient, carrying all necessary equipment and provisions while navigating unmarked terrain, crossing glaciers, fording glacial rivers, and contending with rapidly changing alpine weather conditions. This uncompromising character has earned Sarek a revered status among the global outdoor community as a pilgrimage destination for serious wilderness enthusiasts. The park is home to reindeer, moose, wolverines, lynx, and Arctic foxes, and forms part of the Laponia UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its outstanding natural and cultural values intertwined with Sami reindeer herding traditions that have persisted for millennia.

Hjalmar Lundbohmsgården is the place to understand Kiruna. Lundbohm, the first managing director of the mining company LKAB, is revered as the town's founding father, and his late-19th-century timber compound served as the settlement's earliest administrative and social hub. Rooms preserve the original furnishings while the displays trace how an Arctic mining town rose from wilderness; from the veranda, the vast iron mine that shaped — and now forces the moving of — the whole city lies in plain view.
