📍 Destination Overview

Pamukkale is a famous natural wonder in southwestern Turkey. Calcium carbonate deposited over millennia from its thermal waters has formed layer upon layer of snow-white travertine terraces on the hillside, with azure thermal pools nestled among them like a fairyland on earth—its Turkish name means 'Cotton Castle.' Above the terraces lies the Greco-Roman ancient city of Hierapolis, preserving a grand theatre, avenues and a vast necropolis. The thermal pool where Cleopatra is said to have bathed is still open for a dip, and soaking among scattered ancient columns is a special delight. It is listed by UNESCO as a dual natural and cultural World Heritage Site.
